I think you all have your own recipes for chocolate and vanilla cakes, whether it be as simple as one from a website, word-to-word, an altered one, or completely original, or you might just use cake mixes. Well, I'll show you what they have in them-
-Enriched Flour Bleached (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid)
-Leavening (Baking Soda, Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Monocalcium Phosphate)
-Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and/or Cottonseed Oil
-Modified Corn Starch
-Propylene Glycol Mono and Diesters of Fatty Acids
-Natural and Artificial Flavor
-Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate
-Yellows 5 & 6
Don't tell me you still don't understand! Now for my homade recipe for chocolate cupcakes.
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 175℃ Line a muffin pan with paper liners. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat well. Fill the muffin cups 3/4 full.
Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
2 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
6 tablespoons butter
5 tablespoons evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a medium bowl, sift together the confectioners' sugar and cocoa, and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream butter until smooth, then gradually beat in sugar mixture alternately with evaporated milk. Blend in vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. If necessary, adjust consistency with more milk or sugar.
See? You don't even have to google all these ingredients! Oh, by the way, note that hydrogenated fats make you exta lazy and may give you cancer.
So go on! Throw out those boxed mixes and bring forth your own homade recipes! Ditch those disguisting distilled monoglycerides and dextrose-packed chemical compound mixes and treat yourself with something you deserve! Trust me, it'll be worth it.
