He brought one of his students' amplifiers and it makes my acoustic guitar sound ELECTRIC!

Alright, basically, it makes my guitar louder and there is an electric setting on it!!
How, you ask?
The sound waves from my guitar travel to the pickup attached on its soundhole go to the amp ad play them loud, then send the waves through the speakers back to the pickup and so on. This has to happen in the stretch of 0.028251 seconds per set of waves though the pickup. Complicated, huh? Not exactly. Here it is-

The amp

The pickup

The electric version of Live Like There's No Tomorrow is AWESOME. I might just be doin that for the talent show!

Hey guys! I had SOOOO much fun yesterday! Anusha, my BFF, was at my house for FOUR HOURS yesterday. We played Just Dance 4, played the Game of LIFE, and made serious fun of each other. We rocked the house, especially the kitchen, and went crazy.

I posted a few days ago about the Talent Show (view it here) that we were doing Roar by Katy Perry, but she wasn't moving her feet properly, so we had to switch to Love You Like A Love Song by Selena Gomez.
Speakind of rocking the kitchn, we also made some cookies; I made vanilla sugar cookies and she made her recipe for chocolate cookies. Here's my recipe.

    1 teaspoon baking soda
      1/2 teaspoon baking powder
        1 cup butter, softened
          1 1/2 cups white sugar
            1 egg
              1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until just golden brown from the bottom, but still soft. let stand on cookie sheets for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

These cookies are DELECTABLE! Enjoy while they last!

                Roar Lyrics + Breaking News!

Hey guys! First, I'll start off with breaking news.
Me and my BFF, Anusha, are doing a dance for the school Talent Show. We were about to do 'Love You Like A Love Song' by Selena Gomez, but we ended up deciding on 'Roar' by Katy Perry. If you haven't heard it yet, here you go, plus a Just Dance version of the dance. You'll need YouTube to watch it, though. No prob! Just download Spotflux HERE.

I REALLY like it. Anusha was really panicked yesterday like the REAL SHOW was today. We both memorized it within two hours. I wasn't nervous at all. Check out what she said-

SQUEE! I signed up for the talent show! Zoya and I are going to dance on 'Roar' by Katy Perry and auditions are TOMORROW! OMG!
I am really nervous cuz we haven't practiced much but my arms feel like they are going to snap like twigs any moment.
We're gonna wear- NO! Not telling! You are just gonna have to see for yourself!
She seemed REALLY nervous. I just took it like another day. Oh, and we're gonna wear the thing the girl in the video was wearing.

And now, the lyrics to Roar.

                (Verse 1)
I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
                I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
                Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready 'cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
                Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
                You’re gonna hear me roar

                (Verse 2)
Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
                Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
                Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
                You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
                You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
                You're gonna hear me roar...

                Ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
                Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
                You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
                You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
                You're gonna hear me rOOar!

                OK, that's all for now!

                Hot Chocolate and Cupcakes

Hey guys! You might remember (or not) my Banana-Pomegranate Smoothie for summer. Here goes a hot cocoa recipe for winter!
This stuff is like Starbucks, but even better. Try it out! This is altered from a website I found on the Net.
Ya know, to me, there's nothing better than curling up next to a fire with a big, steaming mug of hot cocoa, hot chocolate, coffee or cappucino. Meh, my coffee is simple Nescafé 3 in 1 creamy mix and cappucino is the just-add-boiling-water mixes, but I'm proud of my cocoa and chocolate.
                Now, our cocoa overload.

                HOT CHOCOLATE

Makes 3 big, full-oh mugs, enough for you and your friends or family.

                4 1/2 cups skimmed milk
3 tbsp white chocolate curls OR 3 chocolate hearts ;)
                4 tbsp dark chocolate curls
                4 tbsp Dutch-processed good-quality cocoa powder
                2 tbsp milk powder

*Note: this recipe has no added sugar as the milk powder adds sweetness and creaminess to the drink.

Pour the milk in a large pot. Turn the heat to low and set to boil.
Meanwhile, add the chocolate curls, cocoa and milk powder. Divide among 3 large mugs and add the milk. Serve immediately before it cools and don't forget those marshmallows or whipped cream!

Image from FieldsOfCake (my cousin ate the ones I made)
                1 3/4 cups flour
                3/4 cup cocoa powder
                2 tsp baking soda
                1 tsp baking powder
                1 tsp salt
                2 tsp espresso powder
                2 cups sugar
                1/2 cup vegetable oil
                2 eggs, room temperature
                1 teaspoon peppermint extract
1 cup hot chocolate (above recipe)
                Hershey’s Peppermint Kiss candies

Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.  Line cupcake pan with liners.
Place one unwrapped peppermint Kiss in the bottom, center of each liner.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt and espresso powder.
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar and oil until combined.
Add the eggs and whisk until smooth.
Pour in the buttermilk or sour milk along with the peppermint extract and whisk until combined. Make sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl to ensure everything is incorporated.
In three parts, whisk in the flour to the wet mixture.  Between each addition add half the hot chocolate.  Scrape the sides of the bowl and stir only until combined.
Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full with batter. Don't overfill!
Bake 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in pans for 3 minutes then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

                Marshmallow Frosting-
Makes enough to frost 18 cupcakes

1 1/3 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
7 oz of marshmallow fluff or a batch of homade unset marshmallows
                1 tbsp vanilla extract
                1 tsp peppermint extract
                2 2/3 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp of heavy cream (if needed)
                1/8 tsp salt
                mini marshmallows
                mini chocolate chips
crushed peppermint candies or a mini candy cane

Using a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, cream together the butter and marshmallow fluff until smooth.
Mix in the vanilla and peppermint extract.
In three parts, add the powdered sugar and mix until smooth.  Make sure to scrape the sides/bottom of the bowl frequently.
If necessary, add cream until you reach your desired consistency.
Add salt and mix on high for 1-2 minutes until color whitens and frosting is fluffy.
Frost and decorate as desired. Eat five when no one is looking!

                Art Projects

Hey guys! As I've mentioned before, school is pretty tough this year. I mean, look at the amount of weekly exams- 4! On top of it all, I'm not that great at art, which is challenging and our teacher expects quite a bit from us. Don't belive me? We MUST give a full-size acrylic painting for oir school exhibition. NOT EASY. It has to be either landscape, animals or a miniature painting. I gave one but it was too small. So, now I'm gonna try something like this:

If you're in my school, then DON'T EVEN TRY TO COPY IT. I SAW IT FIRST! Shoo, go find your own! I ain't gonna let you go if you do that!
                Aaaaaanyway, I'm off.

                THE NEWEST Honor Update

Hey! Honor's back on track (even if the track is tiring)! Our last two practices were CRAZY. We were all mocking the Fairy's lines and making her laugh in the middle of her lines. For example:

"Once there was a princess, the fair pr- (Patty makes a cross-eyed face) RAH HA HA HA, HAH HA HA HA HAAAA!"

TEACHER: "Keep your head, Fairy! What's wrong with you today?"

FAIRY: "Bu-HAHa- (points at us, we're sitting on desks innocently) they're making me LAUGH!"

(Teacher looks at us and nods) "What about them? They are just waiting for their parts."

When Fairy looks at me and Miss is facing the opposite direction, I make a mental blind face at her while Andres is in the background. Fairy snaps fingers, he doesn't pay attention.

                "Do that again," he said

Fairy snaps again. Andres acts blind, accidentally turns around, slams into the wall behind him and falls over :)

                Everyone: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!"
FAIRY: (Falls on her hands and knees) "BWA, HAHAHA, HAHAHEHEHE HA HAA!"

HONOR and BEAUTY: (Laugh silently at Fairy and Andres) "What the- OMG!! HAHA!"

Everyone's on the floor, rolling over, laughing so hard they cried.

ANDRES: (Laughing too) "I did that on purpose!"

                BEAUTY and HONOR: "Yeah, right!"

I think that was called Comedy Week. Next update on Monday!

                Tea Combos

Hey guys! Sorry for being a no-show for such a long time. Tension rising, God help, PLEASE. Aaaaanyway, I'll get straight to the point. Tea is one of those things that is never one and the same, especially on the subject of caffiene, flavor, sweetness and effect. I like almost all types of tea; from decaffinated to PG tips! At our house, we have loads of tea (drum roll)-

                Spiced-apple chamomile,
                regular teabags,
                homade teabags,
                open tea leaves (black tea),
                orange tea,
                strawberry tea,
                PG tips,
                lemon tea,
                raspberry tea,
                green tea,
                lemongrass tea,
                milk tea,
                jasmine tea,
                and regular chamomile tea.

                Whoa, that equals fifteen!
Also, I'm not that into stuff like the Queen's Tea thingie from England, nor do I like tea parties, but for me, the BEST part of tea are the little crumpets, scones, biscottis or cakes served along tea. Now a perfect biscotti recipe:

This is a simple, no frills biscotti. It's quick, easy and one of my favorite Italian cookie recipes.

                1/2 cup vegetable oil
                1 cup white sugar
                3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
                3 eggs
                1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon anise extract, or 3 drops anise oil

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, beat together the oil, eggs, sugar and anise flavoring until well blended.

Combine the flour and baking powder, stir into the egg mixture to form a heavy dough. Divide dough into two pieces. Form each piece into a roll as long as your cookie sheet. Place roll onto the prepared cookie sheet, and press down to 1/2 inch thickness.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Remove from the baking sheet to cool on a wire rack. When The cookies are cool enough to handle, slice each one crosswise into 1/2 inch slices. Place the slices cut side up back onto the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 6 to 10 minutes on each side. Serve with black tea, milk tea, decaf tea, or PG tips.

Combos like those go good according to flavor, strength and sweetness. Some teas even go with fruits and cheeses, or simple chocolate cakes! Have fun creating your own combos, and good luck!
